Skylar Haws Memorial Fund
On December 12th of 2015, we lost Skylar Haws after almost a two-year battle with cancer. Skylar had served the BCM on our service team, as our service team leader, and as our BCM President his senior year. He was involved in many mission trips and shared his faith openly through his campus involvement in many different faith groups and Bible studies. He was an example of servant leadership and, as such, was the recipient of the Matthew 25 Award, given to the BCM senior who best exemplifies the characteristics of service and ministry shown in that passage. His impact was such that the Matthew 25 Award has been renamed in his honor as the Skylar Haws Memorial Matthew 25 Award.
All of those who knew Skylar were impacted by his love, his sense of humor, his amazing intellect, and his passion to share Christ in real ways with everyone he met. In his honor, the BCM has established the Skylar Haws Memorial Service and Missions Fund. This fund is used to help Vanderbilt BCM students who wish to be involved in service, ministry, or mission activities. Through this fund, those attributes so evident in Skylar's life will be nurtured and developed in BCM students for years to come. I can think of few things more honoring to Skylar than to see students involved in service to others, ministry to our community, and missions to our world through your gifts as a part of his legacy.
To contribute to the fund, click the Donate button below or send a check directly to the BCM with a designation in the memo line. Daniel and Lauren Dudugjian help manage the distribution of this fund. While this does nothing to lessen our loss, it does honor the memory of one who gave so much... to the BCM, to his family and friends, and to the cause of Christ.
